The Optimist Ice Arena will begin offering the Fall Learn to Skate Programs starting September 22. The Learn to Skate Program is a fun, easy way for enthusiasts of all ages, from children to adults, to learn skating skills.
The Learn to Skate sessions include:
Learn to Skate
Snowplow Sam 1-4: Beginners ages 3-5
Basic 1-2: Beginners ages 6 and up
Figure Skating FUNdamentals and Free Skate
Basic 3-6: Skaters ages 6 and up, these levels develop all of the fundamental skating skills on the ice.
Pre-Free Skate, and Free-Skate 1-6, each free skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins and jumps – all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements.
Adult 1-4: Adult beginning skaters
Mini-Wings Instructional Hockey & Skating Skills
Hockey 1-4, and Power Skating: Skating skills for hockey, including stops, stride, crossovers, tight turns, and small area games each week. Full equipment preferred, helmet with face mask required. Jersey included.
Rental skates included in cost; helmets required for skaters under age 6 and recommended for any beginner. Please arrive 20 minutes early to class to allow time to register.
