Optimist “Respect for Law” Day

The Optimist Club of Jackson is hosting their 20th Annual “Respect for Law” luncheon in coordination with the Optimist International “Respect for Law” week beginning at noon on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Optimist Ice Arena, 1300 W. North St, Jackson MI

At this luncheon we acknowledge 10 officer/deputy/trooper/employee of the year of the following departments within Jackson County:

Jackson County Sheriff

Jackson City Police Dept.

Blackman – Leoni Public Safety Dept.

Jackson Post – Michigan State Police

Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office

Michigan Department of Corrections:

Charles E. Egeler Reception and Guidance Center

Cooper St. Correctional Facility

Cooper St. Special Alternative Incarceration Program

G. Robert Cotton Correctional Facility

Parnall Correctional Facility

We also acknowledge the smaller township departments within the county. The facility is open at 11:30am and the program / luncheon begins promptly at noon. We typically complete the awards by 1:35pm. The mayor of the city of Jackson will present the Optimist Club with a proclamation. The Jackson County judges have also been invited to attend. Also attending are students from the Jackson County Career Center and Jackson College Law Enforcement programs.

Our guest speaker is retired Jackson City Police Chief Matt Heins.

The community is invited to witness the event and share in the lunch with a $25 tax deductible contribution to the “Optimist Charitable Fund”. The net proceeds of the ticket sales support the Optimist Club’s annual “Gordon Will Scholarship Fund”.
